Las Cruces Fire Department Offers Practice Ability Tests

The Las Cruces Fire Department is hosting three practice Physical Ability Tests (PAT) for individuals interested in becoming firefighters. These practice sessions aim to provide information about the physical requirements needed for the role.

The tests will take place on three consecutive Saturdays: September 28, October 5, and October 12, from 8 a.m. to noon. They will be held at the Las Cruces Fire Department’s Training Tower located at 1050 Crawford Blvd.

These sessions are open to the public and offer multiple benefits for prospective fire cadets, including:

- Observing test components to understand the challenges and expectations of the fire academy.

- The opportunity to ask experienced firefighters and trainers questions about the testing process.

- Receiving tips and guidance to enhance performance in each task.

- Evaluating personal physical readiness for the official test.

The fire department is currently accepting applications for fire cadets until October 20, 2024. Additional information and the application can be found online.

Participants are advised to bring water, a pen, a notebook, and to wear athletic clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for a physical ability test.
