Las Cruces Leaders Attend New Mexico Infrastructure Conference

Staff Report / LasCruceslocal.org

Earlier this week, Natalie Green, the Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Administrator for the City of Las Cruces, and Councilor Becky Corran participated in the New Mexico Infrastructure Finance Conference (NMIFC). This conference is the largest event in New Mexico focused on sharing insights, building networks, and advancing capital projects to benefit communities.

Councilor Becky Corran was a panelist in the "ZONED OUT?" session, where she discussed the significant effects of land use and zoning on affordable housing. She highlighted certain incentive programs and addressed challenges such as Nimbyism that can impede the progress of affordable housing initiatives.

Natalie Green was part of the "CONNECTING HOUSING PARTNERS" panel, where she discussed the Affordable Housing Act. Her presentation focused on collaboration between municipalities and housing organizations to create both single-family and multifamily housing options.

Both Green and Corran expressed their commitment to enhancing affordable housing opportunities and supporting community development.
